How To Display Your Website on Google Search Engine

Well, before google could show your website on its search engine, you must first submit your website to google. Below are the step-by-step tutorials of displaying your website on google, tracking the number of visitors to your website and how to get higher ranking on google or get more traffic to your website.

Submit your website to google Search Engine

You can submit your website to google directory by either

submit it directly in just few clicks (you can do this for yahoo, bing (formerly msn) and others)
submit using google webmaster tools that enables you to know which page has been indexed, set a sitemap to have all your page indexed, how many external links to your website, most common keyword for your website, etc.

- Submit Directly Without Any Tracking Status

You can submit your site directly to google without submitting sitemap is through google add url. This option will allow you to show your website on google but you don't have the tracking information provided by google webmaster. You can submit your website to yahoo, live and all other search engines through this similar method too. You could go for both methods at the same time as webmaster need longer time to crawl through and index your website and this method can get you approve by google in a shorter time but without the webmaster analysis function.

- Submit Using Webmaster With Tracking Status (Recommended)

To submit your website to google, first logon to google webmaster webpage and register for your account. After you've created your account, login and click Add a Site button. Type in the your website name and click continue (sub-domain name can be used also).

A verification page will show-up and you can choose either meta tag to copy paste the google verification code to your index page or you can upload a html file to your server. Just follow the instructions given and click Verify when you're done.

We're not quite done yet. After google has verified your website, google must crawl through your webpage to enable it to display your webpages in google search. Google can crawl through your webpage by either links from other websites that are referring to your webpage or by using google sitemap. Since your webpage is new and lack of links from others, let's go for google sitemap.

Paste the following code into notepad and name it or save it as Sitemap.xml before you can upload this file to your server.

Go ahead and upload this google sitemap file with .xml extention to your server. After you've uploaded your sitemap, you can now login to your webmaster account, enter your verified website and then on the Sitemaps section you can submit your sitemap by entering the input file name requested as Sitemap.xml (same as the one you upload to your server). The status of your website in the sitemaps section will now display a clock symbol under the status. Wait for a while (few minutes) and your website status under sitemaps will change from the clock symbol to a tick. Well done, you've completed submitting your sitemap to google but google cannot show your website on google search engine yet. Many people will ask why the Dashboard stated that "Site is not indexed"? Well, you may have to wait from days to weeks for google to crawl through your sitemap and index your website. Just be patient.
